The course

Inorganic Chemistry

The following description is in short form.

Aims: That the student aquires an all-round knowledge of the properties of inorganic compounds and an insight into coordination chemistry

Contents: Inorganic chemistry is treated systematically, while models are studied when relevant for the understanding of observations and empirical facts. Special emphasis is given to selected d-block elements while the f-block elements are almost only mentioned. In this course, the discussion of inorganic chemistry will be based upon knowledge in basic inorganic (and other parts of) chemistry.
Laboratory assignments will illustrate the synthesis and electron-spectroscopic and other properties of simple coloured coordination compounds.

Format: The small class invites to a more informal teaching with a high degree of student participation and discussions in class. Details to be agreed upon.
